The Top 50 was created by LDC, the private equity investor that is part of Lloyds Banking Group, in partnership with The Times. Now in its eighth year, the programme continues to celebrate the drive and ambition of Britain’s best and brightest entrepreneurs.
This year the programme received almost 700 nominations, showcasing the exceptional individuals that are building successful, growing medium-sized businesses right across the UK.
Headquartered in Bristol, Logika Group is a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy comprising four sister companies: Logika Consultants, Air Quality Consultants, Noise Consultants and Logika Europe. With around 130 experts delivering projects across the UK and EU, the Group specialises in science-led, practical solutions to today’s environmental challenges – covering everything from biodiversity and green infrastructure to environmental policy and renewable energy.
Celebrating founders and leaders with bold visions, clear growth strategies, and the ability to make a positive difference to society, the economy, and the environment, LDC Top 50 candidates are assessed on a proven track record of growth, in addition to companywide exceptional team leadership and a commitment to innovation, sustainability and people under their direction.
Under the leadership of Toby and the Directors of the Group Leadership Team, Logika Group has achieved rapid expansion, making it stand out to LDC Top 50 judges.
Ranked as a Top 25 Leading Player by Environmental Analyst in 2024, the Group has grown by 60% in headcount in the past 30 months alone. It has also opened new offices in Leeds and Brighton, whilst securing prestigious recognition such as ranking 7th in this year’s Elite Business 100 Top UK SMEs.
Toby Gibbs and the Group’s Board Directors have reinforced this growth with both technical excellence and strategic appointments.
Group managers hold influential positions on government boards like the Air Quality Expert Group, the Office for Environmental Protection’s Expert College, and the Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants – reflecting a deep commitment to shaping environmental research and policy at the highest level.
Judges were equally impressed by Logika Group’s consultancy approach, which is rooted in innovation and practical sustainability. Recent successes include a skylark mitigation plan for Manor Farm Solar Park – reversing initial planning refusal to unlock 33 GWh/year of renewable energy (enough to power 11,000 UK homes) – and applying ecological routing expertise to secure consent for 40km of cabling for the Rampion 2 windfarm through the South Downs National Park, whilst protecting habitats and delivering on green goals and energy targets.
Speaking about the nomination, Toby stated:
“It’s truly an honour to be recognised alongside such inspiring leaders. Logika Group’s ambition has always been to grow in ways that deliver real, measurable benefit to both communities and the environment. And this recognition is a testament to our ability to do that, thanks to our incredible team and the positive impact each member collectively delivers on a daily basis”.
John Garner, Managing Partner at LDC, added:
“In the eight years since we launched The LDC Top 50 we’ve had the honour of meeting some exceptional business leaders. This year’s cohort has shown drive and ambition in their growth journeys, proven remarkable resilience, and together they are making a real difference to their employees, the communities they work in and society at large. I’d like to congratulate them on everything they’ve achieved so far. Their success stories are only just beginning, and we’re excited to see where their journey takes them next.”
