Logika worked with Arriva UK Trains to build a detailed Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon footprint for their business and a carbon reduction plan compliant with PPN 06/21, covering all four of their GB passenger rail operators (Arriva Rail London, Chiltern, CrossCountry[LC1] and Grand Central).
OUR APPROACH & DELIVERABLES:
Logika worked to gather data and develop a detailed baseline carbon footprint covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This was then used as the basis to develop a Carbon Reduction Plan for all scopes. The plan was developed based on input from Arriva on their train fleets, projected replacement timeframes, and the potential replacement technologies such as electric, bi-mode and battery trains which could operate on each route. Carbon emissions were then modelled to 2050 and allowed Arriva to set final carbon targets. Logika then drafted a formal Carbon Reduction Plan using the PPN 06/21 template.
The work required significant engagement with technical and engineering teams across Arriva to develop a pathway for train fleet renewal and decarbonisation, leveraging Logika’s extensive rail-sector expertise.
